2025 WFT PEWAUKEE CHAPTER ICE FISHERY FUNDRAISER – UPDATE

WE never consider ice as safe so all fishermen and women if they choose to fish are doing it at their own risk. While people may volunteer to mark known bad spots with old Christmas trees, nobody can possibly know of all the potential bad spots or under the ice springs. Be smart fishermen! Talk to each other, wear floating bibs and jackets, check every inch of ice, carry ice picks. We will have an insane amount of good raffle items as usual, the bar is warm, lots of meat raffles….a good time will be had by all.

12th Annual Walleyes For Tomorrow Pewaukee Chapter Ice Fishery Fundraiser

All proceeds go back into improving the fisheries…

Saturday; February 8th, 2025 Curlys Waterfront, fishing sign up starts at 6 a.m. at the walleye wagon. While there 12″ in most places, the ice has many bad spots and open holes, so fish at your own risk, use a spud bar for every step, drill holes to verify thickness, watch everywhere you go or take a boat, it’s your decision and risk. I know of 6 bad spots, while most are marked, use extreme caution. Frozen holes may only be 1 or 2″ thick. East end has a huge open spot about 2 acres big.

However in the bar its warm and man do we have the prizes and meat raffles. Wisconsins biggest booze wagon, 65″ tv, $500 cash, $300 cash, 308 rifle, .22 rifle, 20 guage over and under, Vexilar FLX-28 ($500+), Aquaview 716C fish camera ($500+), Booze wagon with 30+ QUALITY booze bottles (no wine, no junk), tree stand, game cameras, fire pit w/pokers, Yetti cooler, hunting blind, Rum wagon, wine baskets, cigar/whisky basket, Golf package….too much to list as it keeps rolling in. Plus, typical fish prizes.

Typical prizes are as shown on the walleyes for tomorrow facebook page from past years…. lots of Happy people!!

Also when driving atv’s and utv’s I’m guessing the WDNR will be out in full force giving tickets for driving on the roads….it’s not legal yet. Show up at the February 17th at 6:30 pm at the City of Pewaukee Hall and speak up, the more people that show up the better, let’s get that 1st step done.

Lastly, I think Hardwater Freaks have a fishery on Okauchee this weekend as well. Help support your lakes and conservation efforts!!

Meadowbrook Creek Streambank and Fish Spawning Habitat Improvement Project – In Honor of Earth Day 2022

The Pewaukee Chapter of Walleyes for Tomorrow and the Rukert-Mielke Environmental team took to the woods and waters to help restore the banks of Meadowbrook creek. While Jerad Wegner lead the R/M team (and he cooked burgers/Brats), Dakota Koepp and Jim Schmitz lead the WFT team in Coir log placement, pounding stakes, and installing pine trees to re-establish the banks. Over time the banks erode and the creek becomes shallower and warmer making it an environment for carp and rough fish. Tightening up banks, improves the flow, deepens the stream and allows the water tempertures to stay cooler helping the game fish environment. Northern pike and other gamefish spawn in flowing water, on rocks and riffles and along sedges which grow along the stream banks. The team will be planting over 500 sedges along the banks in coming weeks.
